Discover Azerbaijan's poetry heritage by admiring the Monument to Nizami Ganjavi, a 12th-century poet revered throughout the country. The monument is located in Nizami Square in central Baku near the Nizami Museum of Literature. Sculpted by Fuad Abdurahmanov (who won the Stalin Prize for this work), it was erected in 1949 and features a 6 meter-high bronze statue installed on a 9-meter high octahedral pedestal. The pedestal is made of red Labrador granite and features seven plaques with scenes from Nizami's works, as well as a memorial inscription.
