Learn about the life and work of one of Azerbaijan's greatest ever cultural figures - Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Among his many achievements, Hajibeyov, aka the father of Azerbaijani classical music and opera, composed the first opera in the Islamic world (Leyla and Majnun, in 1908) and wrote the music for Azerbaijan's first national anthem. The museum was originally in Shusha, Karabakh, where Hajibeyov was born, but since that region's occupation by Armenian forces, it has been in Baku.   • It took us some time to find the building because on Tripadvisor's map the marker is almost 1 km out of place, luckily the house number is correct. Uzeir Gadzhibekov lived for 20 years in the rooms...  more »
