Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Landmark
With two stories, Diri Baba Mausoleum dates to the 15th century. According to legend, Diri Baba, a holy man, is buried there in an undisclosed location. Other legends added more mystical details, which made the place a focus for pilgrims since the 17th century. The entire complex is built inside the rock and from the side, the impression is created that the tomb is suspended in the air. Climb the stairs to the second floor, where you will find the most interesting part of the mausoleum, a room with a vaulted dome, a stone carved decoration and a memorial to Sheikh Ibrahim on the wall. As you climb the floors you will notice more ancient and mysterious inscriptions. Through the narrow passage in the northern wall you can reach the cave, where the holy place is buried. • A unique monument of burial that is seen erected on the rocky mountainsides. I saw similar burial monuments seen on the mountainside of these areas of Turkey and Jordanian too. This Mausoleum of Diri-Baba is something different in nature because it is well made and strongly built since 15th Century. When you come to visit the Mausoleum it is intact and strongly built from sandstone and the interior of the rooms are still well stored. Since it is also a Mosque so you can pray inside too. Be careful if you climb up to the second story of the Building because the steps are too steep and the roofing are too low. There are no side-railings to support if you climb high to the top. Be sure that you are fit and none vertigo-prone! To come and visit this mausoleum-Mosque that until now still intact, undamaged is a strong evidence to know what happened in the past and keep it as an unforgettable historical memory.
  • This place is a pilgrimage which people come here and wish something hard to have. For instance, married women come here wish they have child soon it's believed that this sacred person - Diri Baba can help everyone if they wish by heart.
