Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Wed): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish, then take an in-depth tour of Sheki Khans' Palace, then explore the world behind art at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, and finally don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress.

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): ski along the peaceful trails at Tufandag Winter Summer Resort. On the next day, contemplate the waterfront views at Yeddi Gozel Waterfall and then get your game on at Gabala Shooting Club.

You can drive from Sheki to Gabala in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In December in Gabala, expect temperatures between 8°C during the day and -2°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 3rd (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Baku.

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step off the beaten path and head to Monument to Richard Sorge and Park Bulvar Baku. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Baku: Gobustan (Gobustan State Reserve & Mud Volcanoes). There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Museum of Miniature Books, appreciate the extensive heritage of Oil Boom Architecture in Downtown Baku, make a trip to Bibi-Heybat Mosque, and head outdoors with Baku Funicular.

Traveling by car from Gabala to Baku takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of taxi and train. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from Gabala in December since evenings lows in Baku dip to 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Thu) so you can fly back home.
