Azerbaijan's True Historical Gem

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
On the 14th (Fri), don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress, then take an in-depth tour of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Sheki is an approximately 15-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of flight and taxi. The time zone changes from Arabian Standard Time to Azerbaijan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Traveling from Riyadh in February, things will get much colder in Sheki: highs are around 10°C and lows about 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Fri) early enough to drive to Gabala.

Azerbaijan's former capital surrounded by fine countryside and packed with cultural heritage, Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets Sabir and Nesimi.
On the 16th (Sun), see the interesting displays at Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory, then explore the ancient world of Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Juma Mosque.
