A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Take a break from the city and head to Dreamland Golf Club and Yanardag. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Nizami Street/Torgovaya and Park Bulvar Baku. Dedicate the 22nd (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, take in panoramic vistas at Flame Towers, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, and delve into the distant past at Ateshgah Fire Temple.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Baku is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference when traveling from Riyadh to Baku is 1 hour. In May, Baku is colder than Riyadh - with highs of 28°C and lows of 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Wed) so you can fly to Ganja.

Ganja — 2 nights

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Kick off your visit on the 26th (Thu): get a taste of the local shopping with Javad Khan Street and then browse the different shops at Ganja Mall. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Goygol and then contemplate the waterfront views at Maralgol lake.

Traveling by flight from Baku to Ganja takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. In May, daytime highs in Ganja are 29°C, while nighttime lows are 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Fri) to allow time to take a train to Gobustan.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Sat): learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.
