Gobustan — 3 nights

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sat): see the interesting displays at Gobustan State Reserve and then don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes. On the next day, contemplate the long history of Diri Baba Mausoleum.

Drive from Baku to Gobustan in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In July in Gobustan, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 26°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Mon) so you can fly back home.
