Traveling from Baku in July, plan for slightly colder nights in Gabala, with lows around 21°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Tue) so you can go by car to Gobustan.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Wed): see the interesting displays at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes. On the next day, contemplate the long history of Diri Baba Mausoleum.
