The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Baku Old City and Heydar Aliyev Center are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Escape the urban bustle at Gobustan State Reserve and Yanardag. Get out of town with these interesting Baku side-trips: Masazir Lake (in Masazir), Candy Cane Mountains (in Khizi) and Beshbarmag Mountain (in Siyazan). The adventure continues: take in the pleasant sights at Baku Boulevard, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Heydar Mosque, and explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple.

To see where to stay, maps, photos, and more tourist information, refer to the Baku online trip itinerary planner.

If you are flying in from United Arab Emirates, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. March in Baku sees daily highs of 13°C and lows of 5°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) to allow time to travel back home.
