A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Heydar Mosque and National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Dedicate the 22nd (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. And it doesn't end there: play a few rounds at Dreamland Golf Club, browse the different shops at Ganja Mall, ponder the design of Philharmonic Park, and see the interesting displays at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature.

Copenhagen, Denmark to Baku is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Azerbaijan Standard Time (AZT), which is usually a 3 hour difference. When traveling from Baku in August, plan for somewhat warmer days in Nakhchivan, with highs around 41°C, while nights are slightly colder with lows around 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Wed) early enough to travel to Guba.

Getting from Nakhchivan to Guba by combination of flight and bus takes about 6.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In August, daily temperatures in Guba can reach 39°C, while at night they dip to 20°C. On the 26th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Gobustan.

Drive from Guba to Gobustan in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or do a combination of taxi and train. Traveling from Guba in August, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be a bit warmer in Gobustan, with lows of 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Lankaran.
