12 days in Baku & Sheki Itinerary

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.

Lahore, Pakistan to Baku is an approximately 10-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Pakistan Standard Time (PKT) to Azerbaijan Standard Time (AZT) is minus 1 hour. Traveling from Lahore in June, things will get little chillier in Baku: highs are around 33°C and lows about 22°C. You'll set off for Sheki on the 5th (Sun).

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.

Change things up with a short trip to Tufandag Winter Summer Resort in Gabala (about 1h 35 min away). Next up on the itinerary: admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace, make a trip to Sheki Fortress, explore the world behind art at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, and experience rural life at Bio Garden.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. In June, plan for daily highs up to 34°C, and evening lows to 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) so you can drive to Baku.

Take a break from Baku with a short trip to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan, about 1h 5 min away. Explore Baku further: make a trip to Baku Old City, go for a walk through Baku Boulevard, explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs, and see the interesting displays at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.

Traveling by car from Sheki to Baku takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and flight; or take a train. On the 15th (Wed), you'll travel back home.
