Baku
A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Baku Old City and Alley of Martyrs. Venture out of the city with trips to Mardakan Fortress (in Mardakan), Shamakhi (Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum & Juma Mosque) and Gobustan (Diri Baba Mausoleum, Mud Volcanoes, &more). There's much more to do: make a trip to Baku Boulevard, see the interesting displays at Museum of Miniature Books, explore the ancient world of Ateshgah - Fire Temple, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Heydar Mosque.
