The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step off the beaten path and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Change things up with these side-trips from Baku: Mardakan Fortress (in Mardakan), Candy Cane Mountains (in Khizi) and Beshbarmag Mountain (in Siyazan). There's still lots to do: tour the pleasant surroundings at Philharmonic Park, see the interesting displays at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, take in the spiritual surroundings of Juma Mosque, and appreciate the history behind Sculpture Girl on Bench.

In February in Baku, expect temperatures between 9°C during the day and 3°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
