Zagreb, Croatia to Baku is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of bus and train. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time (CET) to Azerbaijan Standard Time (AZT), which is usually a 3 hour difference. Plan for a bit warmer temperatures traveling from Zagreb in August, with highs in Baku at 38°C and lows at 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Sheki.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Start off your visit on the 6th (Mon): pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish and then admire the sheer force of Ilisu Waterfall. On the 7th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the world behind art at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, then admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then make a trip to Sheki Fortress.

Traveling by car from Baku to Sheki takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. Traveling from Baku in September, plan for a bit cooler nights in Sheki, with lows around 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Tue) so you can go by car to Gabala.
