Cairo, Egypt to Baku is an approximately 10-hour flight. The time zone difference moving from Eastern European Standard Time (EET) to Azerbaijan Standard Time (AZT) is 2 hours. When traveling from Cairo in January, plan for much colder days and slightly colder nights in Baku: temperatures range from 8°C by day to 2°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Thu) so you can travel to Ganja.

A Young Spirit Located in an Ancient Land

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Spend the 5th (Fri) exploring at Lake Goygol. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the waterfront views at Maralgol lake, take in the spiritual surroundings of Imamzadeh Mausoleum, walk around Khan's Garden, and pause for some serene contemplation at St. John's Church.

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Wed): get in on the family fun at Gabaland, then get outside with Tufandag Winter Summer Resort, and then admire the sheer force of Yeddi Gozel Waterfall. Here are some ideas for day two: appreciate the extensive heritage of Chukhur Gabala, do a tasting at Savalan ASPI Winery, then get curious at Gabala Archaeological Center, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Nohur Lake.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
On the 12th (Fri), make a trip to Mud Volcanoes and then make a trip to Diri Baba Mausoleum. On the 13th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: get a new perspective on nature at Gobustan State Reserve.

You can drive from Gabala to Gobustan in 2 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi and train. Plan for a bit warmer nights when traveling from Gabala in February since evenings lows in Gobustan dip to 3°C. You'll have a few hours on the 13th (Sat) to wrap things up before traveling home.
