A Young Spirit Located in an Ancient Land
Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.Ganja is known for historic sites, parks, and shopping. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Goygol, stroll around Khan's Garden, look for all kinds of wild species at Maralgol lake, and make a trip to Nizami Ganjavi Mausoleum.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.Explore Sheki's surroundings by going to Ilisu Waterfall (in Ilisu), Zagatala Fortress (in Zagatala) and Gabala (Gabala Shooting Club, Nohur Lake, &more). There's much more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace, pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish, and make a trip to Sheki Fortress.

Getting from Ganja to Sheki by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a train. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to travel to Nakhchivan.

Nakhchivan, an autonomous Azerbaijani republic, remains a region of breathtaking landscapes, quaint villages, and a cuisine distinct from the rest of the country.On the 8th (Wed), steep yourself in history at Alinja Castle, then admire the striking features of Nakhchivan Khans' Palace, and then steep yourself in history at Mausoleum of Momine Khatun.

You can fly from Nakhchivan to Baku in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or drive. Traveling from Nakhchivan in July, you will find days in Baku are a bit cooler (36°C), and nights are a bit warmer (26°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
