Gobustan

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Gobustan is known for museums and historic sites. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve, steep yourself in history at Diri Baba Mausoleum, and make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.

Doha, Qatar to Gobustan is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Arabian Standard Time to Azerbaijan Standard Time is 1 hour. When traveling from Doha in August, plan for cooler days and slightly colder nights in Gobustan: temperatures range from 38°C by day to 26°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 29th (Sun) to allow time for the car ride to Gabala.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish and then take in the dramatic scenery at Ilisu Waterfall. Keep things going the next day: admire the masterpieces at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, then take an in-depth tour of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then make a trip to Sheki Fortress.
