The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Get some historical perspective at Juma Mosque and Ateshgah Fire Temple. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Wine Tours & Tastings and National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. Change things up with a short trip to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan (about 1h 5 min away). The adventure continues: see the interesting displays at Museum of Miniature Books, pause for some serene contemplation at Juma Mosque, shop like a local with Ali Shamsi Studio, and go for a walk through Baku Boulevard.

Sheki

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Visiting Tufandag Winter Summer Resort and Seven Beauties Waterfall will get you outdoors. Discover out-of-the-way places like Sheki Khans' Palace and Ilisu Waterfall. Step out of Sheki with an excursion to Zagatala State Reserve in Zagatala--about 1h 50 min away.
