Azerbaijan's "northern gates" promise breathtaking Caucasus Mountain scenery, home to some of the country’s highest peaks, a classy ski resort, traditional rustic villages, and tasty Lezgi cuisine.

You can drive from Baku to Gusar in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Traveling from Baku in February, Gusar is little chillier at night with lows of -1°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 19th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Shamakhi.

The City of Poets and Former Ancient Capital of the Country

Azerbaijan's former capital surrounded by fine countryside and packed with cultural heritage, Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets Sabir and Nesimi.
Venture out of the city with trips to Diri Baba Mausoleum (in Gobustan), Candy Cane Mountains (in Khizi) and Beshbarmag Mountain (in Siyazan). Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Ganja is known for historic sites, parks, and shopping.
