Azerbaijan's former capital surrounded by fine countryside and packed with cultural heritage, Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets Sabir and Nesimi.

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.

You can take a train from Shamakhi to Ganja in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train; or drive. February in Ganja sees daily highs of 11°C and lows of 1°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Thu) so you can catch the flight to Baku.
