The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Visiting Dreamland Golf Club and Baku Funicular will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Philharmonic Park and Heydar Mosque. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Baku: Gobustan (Mud Volcanoes, Gobustan State Reserve, &more), Masazir Lake (in Masazir) and Khizi (Candy Cane Mountains & Mikayil Mushfig House Museum). Dedicate the 2nd (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Spend the 9th (Sun) exploring nature at Absheron National Park. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, appreciate the history behind Monument to Richard Sorge, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, and shop like a local with Ali Shamsi Studio.

For maps, photos, traveler tips, and other tourist information, refer to the Baku attractions planner.

In August, daytime highs in Baku are 38°C, while nighttime lows are 26°C.
