The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Visiting Dreamland Golf Club and Baku Funicular will get you outdoors. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Philharmonic Park and National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Baku: Khizi (Candy Cane Mountains & Mikayil Mushfig House Museum), Gobustan (Mud Volcanoes, Gobustan State Reserve, &more) and Masazir Lake (in Masazir). Dedicate the 2nd (Sun) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. Spend the 9th (Sun) exploring nature at Absheron National Park. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Heydar Mosque, make a trip to Bibi-Heybat Mosque, admire the landmark architecture of Baku Railway Station, and examine the collection at Museum of Miniature Books.

In August in Baku, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 26°C at night.
