3 days in Gabala & Sheki Itinerary

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.

Baku to Gabala is an approximately 3.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or do a combination of train and taxi. Expect little chillier evenings in Gabala when traveling from Baku in May, with lows around 13°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Sheki.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.

Start off your visit on the 27th (Fri): make a trip to Sheki Fortress, then admire the striking features of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish.

Getting from Gabala to Sheki by car takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. In May in Sheki, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 16°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive back home.
