Baku — 3 nights

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Go for a jaunt from Baku to Gobustan to see Gobustan State Reserve about 1h 5 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, examine the collection at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, make a trip to Fountains Square, and delve into the distant past at Ateshgah Fire Temple.

For photos, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Baku trip itinerary planning tool.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Dubai in April: high temperatures in Baku hover around 19°C and lows are around 9°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Sun) early enough to fly back home.

With its dual Eurasian character, Azerbaijan remains a highly intriguing destination, with tourism one of the top contributors to the country's booming economy. Many begin their tour of Azerbaijan in World Heritage-listed Baku, a cosmopolitan city boasting innovative architecture and a well-preserved historic core.
