Baku is known for sightseeing, historic sites, and museums. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, don't miss a visit to Fountains Square, and steep yourself in history at Baku Old City.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. Traveling from Dubai in December, things will get colder in Baku: highs are around 10°C and lows about 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Sat) so you can drive to Gobustan.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.

Traveling by car from Baku to Gobustan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In January, daytime highs in Gobustan are 8°C, while nighttime lows are 2°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 2nd (Sun) early enough to catch the flight back home.
