The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Get a sense of the local culture at Gobustan State Reserve and Heydar Aliyev Center. There's much more to do: make a trip to Baku Old City, explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs, explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple, and play a few rounds at Dreamland Golf Club.

Azerbaijan's former capital surrounded by fine countryside and packed with cultural heritage, Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets Sabir and Nesimi.

You can drive from Baku to Shamakhi in 2 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Baku in September, expect slightly colder with lows of 17°C in Shamakhi. You'll set off for home on the 6th (Sun).
