The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step off the beaten path and head to Museum of Miniature Books and Fortress Walls of Icheri Sheher. Step out of Baku with an excursion to Mud Volcanoes in Gobustan--about 1h 25 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Heydar Mosque, cool off at Aqua Park at the Pullman Hotel, see the interesting displays at Heydar Aliyev Center, and tee off at Dreamland Golf Club.

If you are flying in from United Arab Emirates, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. In September, plan for daily highs up to 31°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Fri) so you can travel back home.
