The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Baku: Gobustan (Mud Volcanoes & Gobustan State Reserve). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Baku Old City, see the interesting displays at Museum of Miniature Books, walk around Highland Park, and explore the striking landscape at Yanardag.

To find reviews, more things to do, photos, and tourist information, you can read our Baku day trip planning website.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Baku is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also drive. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Riyadh to Baku due to the time zone difference. When traveling from Riyadh in January, plan for colder days in Baku, with highs around 8°C, while nights are little chillier with lows around 2°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
