Baku — 2 nights

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Mon): explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs and then take in panoramic vistas at Flame Towers. On your second day here, contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, examine the collection at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, and then take in the pleasant sights at Baku Boulevard.

Islamabad, Pakistan to Baku is an approximately 10-hour flight. The time zone changes from Pakistan Standard Time (PKT) to Azerbaijan Standard Time (AZT), which is usually a -1 hour difference. When traveling from Islamabad in July, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Baku: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 26°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Wed) so you can drive to Sheki.

Sheki — 1 night

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Start off your visit on the 7th (Thu): don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress, admire the striking features of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Thu) early enough to drive to Gabala.
