Gobustan

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 4th (Sat): learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes.

You can drive from Baku to Gobustan in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. In December, daily temperatures in Gobustan can reach 10°C, while at night they dip to 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) to allow enough time to fly back home.
