Sheki — 1 night

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
On the 11th (Sat), make a trip to Sheki Fortress, then admire the striking features of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. In June, daytime highs in Sheki are 34°C, while nighttime lows are 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Gobustan.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
On the 12th (Sun), learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes.
