A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step off the beaten path and head to Park Bulvar Baku and Ali Shamsi Studio. Next up on the itinerary: get a taste of the local shopping with Nizami Street/Torgovaya, examine the collection at Museum of Miniature Books, go for a walk through Baku Boulevard, and steep yourself in history at Baku Old City.

Kuwait City, Kuwait to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Kuwait City to Baku. Expect colder weather when traveling from Kuwait City in July: highs in Baku hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Sheki.

Sheki — 1 night

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Sat): don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress, admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. In July in Sheki, expect temperatures between 36°C during the day and 24°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sat) so you can go by car to Gobustan.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 31st (Sun): learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.
