A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Your day by day itinerary now includes Mud Volcanoes, Heydar Aliyev Center, Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, and other attractions you added. On the 2nd (Thu), steep yourself in history at Baku Old City, then examine the collection at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, then see the interesting displays at Heydar Aliyev Center, and finally don't miss a visit to Baku Boulevard. On the next day, explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple, explore the striking landscape at Yanardag, and then don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes.

If you are flying in from Qatar, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. In June in Baku, expect temperatures between 33°C during the day and 22°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) early enough to go by car to Shamakhi.

Shamakhi — 1 night

Azerbaijan's former capital surrounded by fine countryside and packed with cultural heritage, Shamakhi is one of Azerbaijan’s most historic cities and the birthplace of legendary Azerbaijani poets Sabir and Nesimi.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sat): learn about winemaking at Savalan ASPI Winery.

Traveling by car from Baku to Shamakhi takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Plan for slightly colder nights when traveling from Baku in June since evenings lows in Shamakhi dip to 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 4th (Sat) so you can go by car to Gabala.
