A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Thu): see the interesting displays at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, take in the pleasant sights at Baku Boulevard, and then enjoy breathtaking views from Flame Towers. Here are some ideas for day two: stroll the grounds of Alley of Martyrs, then contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, and then examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. Traveling from Dubai in March, things will get much colder in Baku: highs are around 13°C and lows about 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to drive to Gusar.

You can drive from Baku to Gusar in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. March in Gusar sees daily highs of 15°C and lows of 3°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Khinalig.
