Get some historical perspective at Baku Old City and Alley of Martyrs. Do some cultural sightseeing at Heydar Aliyev Center and Ateshgah Fire Temple. And it doesn't end there: get a taste of the local shopping with Nizami Street/Torgovaya, explore the striking landscape at Yanardag, take in panoramic vistas at Flame Towers, and take in the exciting artwork at Museum of Modern Art.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
On the 24th (Wed), get a new perspective on nature at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.

Traveling by car from Baku to Gobustan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In August, daily temperatures in Gobustan can reach 38°C, while at night they dip to 26°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 24th (Wed) early enough to catch the flight back home.
