A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Get some cultural insight at Baku Old City and Wine Tours & Tastings. Ateshgah Fire Temple and Alley of Martyrs will appeal to history buffs. There's lots more to do: examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center, get a taste of the local shopping with Gurmania, pause for some photo ops at Sculpture Girl on Bench, and make a trip to Fountains Square.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also fly; or drive. When traveling from Dubai in July, plan for colder days and slightly colder nights in Baku: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 26°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Mon) early enough to go by car to Gobustan.

Gobustan — 1 night

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve and then make a trip to Mud Volcanoes.

Traveling by car from Baku to Gobustan takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) so you can fly back home.
