The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Baku Old City and Heydar Aliyev Center are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of the city life by going to Gobustan State Reserve and Yanardag. Venture out of the city with trips to Masazir Lake (in Masazir) and Candy Cane Mountains (in Khizi). There's lots more to do: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, examine the collection at Museum of Miniature Books, explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple, and don't miss a visit to Fountains Square.

If you are flying in from Romania, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. In March, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
