A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Baku Old City and Palace of the Shirvanshahs will appeal to history buffs. Kids will appreciate attractions like Baku Boulevard and Flame Towers. Take a break from Baku with a short trip to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan, about 1h 5 min away. There's lots more to do: explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple, examine the collection at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, tour the pleasant surroundings at Highland Park, and don't miss a visit to Fountains Square.
