Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Tue): don't miss a visit to Diri Baba Mausoleum. Here are some ideas for day two: don't miss a visit to Mud Volcanoes and then get a new perspective on nature at Gobustan State Reserve.

Doha, Qatar to Gobustan is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Doha to Gobustan. Traveling from Doha in December, expect nights in Gobustan to be a bit cooler, around 3°C, while days are colder, around 10°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 29th (Wed) so you can go by car to Baku.
