A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step off the beaten path and head to Heydar Mosque and Bibi-Heybat Mosque. There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to Baku Boulevard, see the interesting displays at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, admire the local landmark of Philharmonic Park, and contemplate the long history of Baku Old City.

Cairo, Egypt to Baku is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. You'll lose 2 hours traveling from Cairo to Baku due to the time zone difference. Expect colder weather when traveling from Cairo in November: highs in Baku hover around 15°C, while lows dip to 9°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Sheki.

Sheki — 1 night

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
On the 7th (Mon), explore the world behind art at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, then make a trip to Sheki Fortress, then admire the landmark architecture of Sheki Khans' Palace, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. Traveling from Baku in November, Sheki is slightly colder at night with lows of 5°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Mon) so you can go by car to Gobustan.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
