A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Baku is known for historic sites, museums, and shopping. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: go for a walk through Baku Boulevard, see the interesting displays at Heydar Aliyev Center, make a trip to Flame Towers, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
Kick off your visit on the 24th (Thu): make a trip to Mud Volcanoes and then learn more about the world around you at Gobustan State Reserve.

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at Chotari Albanian-Udi Church, then take an in-depth tour of Gabala Archaeological Center, then explore the activities along Yeddi Gozel Waterfall, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Nohur Lake. On your second day here, get in on the family fun at Gabaland, ski along the peaceful trails at Tufandag Winter Summer Resort, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Gabala City Mosque.

Drive from Gobustan to Gabala in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi. Traveling from Gobustan in September, Gabala is slightly colder at night with lows of 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Sat) early enough to drive back home.
