Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Mon): look for all kinds of wild species at Lake Goygol. On the next day, make a trip to St. John's Church, explore the activities along Maralgol lake, and then buy something for everyone on your list at Ganja Mall.

Getting from Baku to Ganja by flight takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. August in Ganja sees daily highs of 39°C and lows of 25°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Tue) so you can drive to Gabala.
