A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Kids will enjoy Baku Old City and Flame Towers. Change things up with a short trip to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan (about 1h 5 min away). And it doesn't end there: don't miss a visit to Baku Boulevard, learn more about the world around you at Qala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex, examine the collection at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature, and explore the ancient world of Ateshgah Fire Temple.

You can drive from Baku to Ismayilli in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or do a combination of train and taxi. Plan for a bit cooler nights when traveling from Baku in July since evenings lows in Ismayilli dip to 21°C. On the 12th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Gabala.

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Thu): tour the pleasant surroundings at Maralgol lake and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Imamzadeh Mausoleum.

Traveling by train from Shamakhi to Ganja takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train; or drive. Traveling from Shamakhi in July, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Ganja, with lows around 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Fri) to allow enough time to fly back home.
