The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
You've added Azadliq (Freedom) Square, Mahammad Mosque, Taza Pir Mosque, and other attractions to your itinerary. Step off the beaten path and head to Fortress Walls of Icheri Sheher and National Museum of History of Azerbaijan. There's still lots to do: admire the local landmark of Philharmonic Park, pause for some photo ops at Sculpture Girl on Bench, pause for some serene contemplation at Archangel Michael Russian Church, and don't miss a visit to International Mugham Centre.

For maps, more things to do, where to stay, and tourist information, refer to the Baku road trip website.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Dubai in August, with highs in Baku at 38°C and lows at 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 27th (Fri) to allow time for the flight back home.
