The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Take a break from Baku with a short trip to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan, about 1h 5 min away. There's much more to do: make a trip to Baku Boulevard, take in the dramatic natural features at Yanardag, take in panoramic vistas at Flame Towers, and examine the collection at Heydar Aliyev Center.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Fri): pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Kish, make a trip to Sheki Fortress, then steep yourself in history at Sheki Khans' Palace, and finally experience rural life at Bio Garden.

You can drive from Baku to Sheki in 4.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Sat): tour the pleasant surroundings at Heydar Aliyev Park, contemplate the waterfront views at Maralgol lake, and then stroll through Khan's Garden.
