The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Appreciate the collections at Heydar Aliyev Center and Museum of Miniature Books. Visit Baku Old City and Ateshgah Fire Temple for their historical value. Dedicate the 10th (Fri) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Baku Boulevard, stroll through Philharmonic Park, explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs, and see the interesting displays at National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. Expect cooler weather when traveling from Abu Dhabi in September: highs in Baku hover around 31°C, while lows dip to 22°C. A Young Spirit Located in an Ancient Land

Famous as the birthplace of legendary poet Nizami, Ganja is a truly ancient city still bearing traces of the myriad kingdoms and empires that ruled over it in the past.
On the 12th (Sun), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shah Abbas Mosque and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Imamzadeh Mausoleum. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Goygol and then explore the activities along Maralgol lake.

Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape (UNESCO Heritage) covers three areas of a plateau of rocky boulders rising out of the semi-desert of central Azerbaijan, with an outstanding collection of more than 6,000 rock engravings bearing testimony to 40,000 years of rock art.
