A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Dreamland Golf Club and Park Bulvar Baku. Head to Nizami Street/Torgovaya and Ali Shamsi Studiofor some retail therapy. Step out of Baku with an excursion to Mud Volcanoes in Gobustan--about 1h 25 min away. Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Sat): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish, then admire the striking features of Winter Palace, then admire the striking features of Sheki Khans' Palace, and finally make a trip to Sheki Fortress.
