A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Sat): play a few rounds at Dreamland Golf Club, delve into the distant past at Ateshgah Fire Temple, then see the interesting displays at Heydar Aliyev Center, and finally go for a walk through Baku Boulevard. On the 14th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: make a trip to Baku Old City, enjoy breathtaking views from Flame Towers, then explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs, then make a trip to Fountains Square, and finally appreciate the history behind Sculpture Girl on Bench.

Manama, Bahrain to Baku is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Manama to Baku due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Manama in August, things will get little chillier in Baku: highs are around 38°C and lows about 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 15th (Mon) so you can drive to Gabala.

If you're fed up of the concrete jungle, take a trip to Gabala for the perfect getaway.
Take a break from the city and head to Tufandag Winter Summer Resort and Seven Beauties Waterfall. Change things up with these side-trips from Gabala: Meysary (Meyseri Wines & Alpaca Azerbaijan), Ivanovka Village (in Ismayilli) and Shamakhi (Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory & Yeddi Gumbaz Mausoleum). Getting from Baku to Gabala by car takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or do a combination of train and taxi. Plan for slightly colder nights when traveling from Baku in August since evenings lows in Gabala dip to 20°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Baku.
