The City of Eternal Flames, the City of Winds

A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Step out of Baku with an excursion to Gobustan State Reserve in Gobustan--about 1h 5 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, enjoy breathtaking views from Flame Towers, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of History of Azerbaijan, and delve into the distant past at Ateshgah Fire Temple.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Baku is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive. Traveling from Dubai in July, you will find days in Baku are colder (36°C), and nights are slightly colder (26°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Tue) so you can drive to Sheki.

Azerbaijan's True Historical Gem

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Kick off your visit on the 21st (Wed): don't miss a visit to Sheki Fortress, then steep yourself in history at Sheki Khans' Palace, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish. On your second day here, get all the equipment you need at Tufandag Winter Summer Resort.

Getting from Baku to Sheki by car takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. In July, daily temperatures in Sheki can reach 36°C, while at night they dip to 24°C. You will leave for home on the 23rd (Fri).
