A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Your day by day itinerary now includes National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature as well as Nizami Street/Torgovaya. Go for a jaunt from Baku to Gobustan to see Gobustan State Reserve about 1h 5 min away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Baku Old City, don't miss a visit to Fountains Square, explore the different monuments and memorials at Alley of Martyrs, and examine the collection at Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.

If you are flying in from Serbia, the closest major aiport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport. In May in Baku, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 17°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sat) early enough to go by car to Sheki.

Sheki is Azerbaijan’s true travel gem, a small city off the forested slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains rich in Silk Road history and renowned for its fascinating architecture, food, and friendly residents.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Kish, make a trip to Sheki Fortress, then explore the world behind art at Museum of Folk and Applied Arts, and finally get engrossed in the history at Sheki Khans' Palace. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 18th (Mon): get in on the family fun at Gabaland and then glide through natural beauty at Tufandag Winter Summer Resort.

Traveling by car from Baku to Sheki takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of flight and taxi; or take a train. May in Sheki sees daily highs of 28°C and lows of 16°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 19th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive back home.
